We Don’t Just Pull Weeds

Weeds tell Us Something About the State of Our Soil.

Collectively, we at Lightfoot Landscaping have spent countless hours picking the same weeds from the exact same spot in a garden without any signs of progress. We, like you, are over it.

Instead, with an eye to soil health, Lightfoot pays attention to what each individual weed means. We follow a few rules, e.g. don’t pull out any plants without knowing what they are, understanding what they say about the soil conditions, and having a plan to fix it!

We do not pull dandelions, clovers, or native plants just because they sprouted up somewhere they were not originally planted. Rather, we will assess your site and work with you to create a plan towards the long-term health of your landscape.

There is no instant, permanent, one-size-fits-all solution to weeds (no matter what landscape fabric whispers to you from the shelves of the hardware store). Repairing the damage to our urban soils is a multi-year process; it is one of Lightfoot’s goals to help you approach it on a personalized and manageable scale. Though possible solutions vary based on the indicators in your landscape, it is worth keeping in mind that the answer to being rid of your weeds is almost always going to involve planting more desirable plants.
